Areti Skavantzou is a young visual artist located in Greece. Her work focuses on landscape paper engravings. Paper engraving is a technique that Skavantzou recently stumbled upon during her studies at the Frances Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts, in Greece.

Bio

Areti Skavantzou (b. 1994 Athens, Greece) is a young visual artist located in Greece, currently finishing her studies as an Honors Visual Arts student while also minoring in Psychology. Her work focuses mainly on paper engravings, a technique that she started working with during her studies at the Frances Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts (F.R.S.F.P.A) in Athens, Greece. While pursuing her career as a visual artist, she also conducts seminars on self-awareness and spirituality, and keeps on exploring various subjects that she is quite passionate about such as education, feminism, human existentialism, socially engaged art,  and. Areti is a big believer of  alternative educational systems. Her honors thesis “Democratizing Education through Free Democratic Schools,” reconsiders the function of education in contemporary democracies. She is a recipient of various scholarships and has served as President of the International Honors Society (Jan. – Dec. 2014), as well as Vice-president (2015 – 2016) and President of the Visual Arts Society (2016 – 2017). Areti envisions to discover new techniques and ways of art-making, so that her artwork can become an agent for societal change.
